If you go to the FSI website "www.fsi-language-courses.net" you can download the script for this course which was written for the US diplomatic service some years ago and is excellent. You can also download the spoken version of the scripts which is ,I presume, the original and is now well below the acceptable standard for current use and the clarity and detail is insufficient for a learner to use as his model. But I can't complain because it's free. What "Master Language" seem to have done is to download the free tapes and burn them to CD. The quality is very slightly better than the downloadable version, possibly the result of using electronic sound cleaners. What should have been done is to re-record the scripts using new speakers and modern (not necessarily expensive) equipment. If they had done this the course would be worth the money. The manufacturers, incredibly, do not give any address for their place of business and the course arrives in a plain cardboard box with a DTP produced sticker on the front - that's it! The script text is identical to the original, that is it is typewritten and has probably been reproduced photographically rather than digitally remastered. However this is less important because it is still readable. Don't buy from this company - whoever they are - they are attempting to market someone else's hard work without adding the minimum value to be expected. I should mention that volunteers on the FSI website are slowly re-recording the courses one by one but they have not reached German yet.
